Launch of call for project experiences
At the MOVE2011 congress – to be held in Paris on 19-23 October - The MOVE project will launch a call for project experiences targeting socially disadvantaged groups. With the call, organizations and institutions working in diverse fields such as health, physical activity and sport, citizenship and urban planning are invited to submit descriptions of their own physical activity initiatives and projects aimed at socially disadvantaged groups. Current patterns of engagement in physical activity show great inequalities strongly linked to socioeconomic factors such as income, education, employment, and socio-cultural aspects such as gender and ethnicity. People who are poorer, unemployed or belonging to specific ethnic groups tend to engage less in physical activity and are less healthy. How can these patterns be overcome? How can we lower the barriers that prevent disadvantaged groups from participating in physical activity?
